This 80 apartment development in Dover is set to provide spacious and bright living arrangements for elderly residents in the Kent area. Our client, the developer, required that the apartments were decorated to a very high standard, ensuring uniformity throughout. To achieve this, the client sought out decorators with extensive experience in delivering a quality product at this size and scale.
When working on projects like the Coombes Valley development, delivering the finished product on time is vital. With this in mind, extensive planning is needed and our team worked closely with the client to agree a detailed, achievable programme. On a large site such as this, the order of works becomes extremely important due to the number of trades working in tandem. Our team ensured that all rooms and common areas were mist coated ahead of schedule, so 2nd fix carpentry and electrics could commence. It was also important for us to be flexible, dropping off areas when necessary to allow trades to complete works outside the agreed programme. Working closely with the site agent regarding issues such as this resulted in a smooth and efficiently run site, which benefited all trades.
The rooms themselves consist of one room and one en-suite, both of which required meticulous preparation and decorating. All walls, ceilings and woodwork were filled and sanded between each coat to ensure the excellent finish one would expect to find in a brand new property. Early on in the works, our team encountered a technical problem regarding the paint being used for the ceilings. The vinyl paint provided was causing a ‘ghosting’ effect which resulted in ceilings appearing patchy and unfinished. Our experienced team was able to advise the client on how to overcome this and the issue was resolved promptly after a change in materials.
This high-end development also consists of multiple communal areas, including lounges, dining areas, bathrooms and a cinema room. It was important that these areas were finished to the highest quality, as these large communal areas would be the focal point for existing and potential residents.
