The windows at the school were last decorated in the late 90’s and as such, were in very poor condition. Our team was tasked with restoring these period sash and casement windows to their former condition through extensive refurbishment. The windows have been meticulously sanded back, re-puttied, primed, undercoated and then glossed in the school’s original colour. This has revived the overall appearance of this architecturally significant building.
The redecorations at the prestigious Chatham House Grammar School in Ramsgate, pose various technical and logistical challenges. Due to the high number and varied nature of the windows, careful planning is required to ensure each one receives the high quality finish the client demands. This has been achieved by detailing each window individually and marking its progress from preparation through to top coat. By doing this, our team ensures that every window goes through the necessary stages that are essential for an excellent finish.
Redecorating classrooms during term time has bought its own challenges. Working in a live school means that we have to work closely with the client to reduce any impact on the students and their learning. Together, we have managed to reduce disruption by holding weekly meetings, in which we create a detailed room closure schedule. This schedule is strictly adhered to, ensuring no unexpected interruption of studies.
